The process

Wash, re-sand, seal — correctly.

Site assessment

Check the existing surface, look for stains, broken blocks or drainage issues. Recommend fixes before we seal.

Spot repairs

Replace any broken or chipped blocks, lift and re-lay sunken sections, re-bed loose edge restraints.

Pressure washing

Industrial 220-bar rotary surface cleaner removes moss, lichen, oil residue and ground-in dirt without damaging the surface.

Drying

Surface must dry fully — at least 24 hours of dry weather — or the sealer won't bond correctly.

Joint re-sanding

Kiln-dried sand brushed deep into block paving joints, vibrated in with a plate compactor to the specified depth.

Sealing

Two coats of premium sealer applied with low-pressure sprayer, back-brushed for even penetration. Drive ready in 24 hours.

Surface size

The bigger the area, the lower the per-m² rate — we've travelled, set up, and got the kit on site anyway.

Current condition

Heavily stained, mossy or oil-soaked surfaces need more cleaning time. Generally adds £2–£5/m².

Sealer choice

Wash-only is cheapest. Wash + sand only is mid-range. Full wash + sand + premium seal is the premium service.

Block replacements

Cracked, chipped or stained blocks replaced individually at £8–£15 each including labour.

Edge repairs

Loose or moved kerb stones re-bedded and haunched. £25–£40 per linear metre.

Weed treatment

If the drive has heavy weed growth we'll treat with a professional weed killer before washing — adds £40 flat fee.

How much does driveway cleaning and sealing cost?

Pressure washing alone is £10–£12/m². Wash + re-sand + premium seal is £18–£24/m². A typical 40m² driveway is £700–£950 for the full restoration treatment — much cheaper than replacing.

How often should I clean and seal my driveway?

Pressure wash and re-sand the joints every 2–3 years to keep moss and weeds at bay. Re-seal every 3–5 years to maintain colour stability and stain resistance. Tarmac drives benefit from a top-up seal coat every 5 years.

What sealer do you use?

For block paving we use Resiblock Superior or Smartseal Pavetuf — both proven UK formulations that bind joint sand and protect colour for 3–5 years. For tarmac we use Resiblock Sureset Black. Natural stone gets a stone-friendly impregnating seal.

Will sealing change the colour?

Yes — slightly. A satin seal deepens colours and gives a subtle sheen; a gloss seal makes blocks look wet and significantly richer. We bring samples and apply test patches before committing. Most clients prefer the satin finish.

How long does cleaning & sealing take?

A standard 40m² driveway takes 1–2 days. Day one is pressure washing and drying. Day two is re-sanding the joints and applying the seal. The drive needs 24 hours to fully cure before driving on it.

Can you remove oil stains?

Most fresh oil stains lift with a specialist degreaser before pressure washing. Older deeply-soaked stains often need to be replaced — but on block paving we can usually swap the affected blocks individually. We assess on site.
